Sat 03/17 - The Interfaith Amigos

Saturday, March 17, 3:00 PM @ The Community Church of Issaquah: The Interfaith Amigos. Pastor Don Mackenzie, Rabbi Ted Falcon and Imam Jamal Rahman—now known as the Interfaith Amigos—started working together after 9/11. Since then, they have brought their unique blend of spiritual wisdom and humor to audiences in the US, Israel-Palestine and Japan. Their first book, Getting to the Heart of Interfaith (Skylight Paths, 2009), brought the Interfaith Amigos international attention with coverage including the New York Times, CBS News, BBC Radio, and various NPR stations. Karen Armstrong calls their “exuberant and courageous” second book, Religion Gone Astray: What We Found at the Heart of Interfaith (Skylight Paths, 2011), “an inspiration and example for all of us in these sadly polarized times.” Their work is dedicated to supporting more effective interfaith dialogue that can bring greater collaboration on the major social and economic issues of our time.
Mackenzie is head of staff at University Congregational UCC Church in Seattle, while Falcon is founder of meditative synagogues in Los Angeles and Seattle, and Rahman is a Muslim Sufi minister and co-founder of Seattle’s Interfaith Community Church.

Fri 03/02 - Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Friday, March 2nd, beginning after 7:00 PM Spanish Mass: Exposition & Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Concludes Saturday morning with benediction before First Saturday Mass at 9:00 AM.

Eucharistic Adoration is the veneration of Jesus Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament displayed in a monstrance. Christ loves us without limit and offers Himself to us in the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist.

Exposition & Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin after the 7:00 PM First Friday Mass (in Spanish) and continue throughout the night until Benediction before the First Saturday Mass (in English) at 9:00 AM. We will continue this devotion on first fridays until Pentecost.

“Could you not keep watch for one hour?” (Mark 14:37)

“To visit the Blessed Sacrament is a proof of gratitude, an expression of love, and a duty of adoration toward Christ our Lord.” (Pope Paul VI, Mysterium fidei)

You are welcome to come experience the grace of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at any time during the exposition. To assure that the exposed Blessed Sacrament is not left unattended, we need Adorers to sign up for the one-hour time slots. If you wish to commit to a time please signup on the sheets found in the gathering space.
