INFORMATION FOR FIRST EUCHARIST/COMMUNION 2020
First Eucharist, also known as “First Holy Communion”, is the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
Children are taught that the bread and wine become Jesus’ Body and Blood through the power of the Holy Spirit and the words of the priest. They are instructed to receive the Body and Blood with reverence and that through the Eucharist they receive strength to live as followers of Jesus.
Both the child and parent are required to attend two separate sessions – initial and follow-up group meetings at the church for preparation. Parents are the primary educators. Children and parents are given workbooks for study home.
Children should be in Year 2 of ongoing religious education in our Faith Formation Program or parish school or be enrolled in a faith formation program taught by their parents.
For 2019-2020: The class for children preparing to receive First Reconciliation/First Holy Communion is being formed now. Preparation classes will start in September. Registration packets have been mailed home. If you have not received one and believe you have a child eligible to prepare to receive these sacraments, please contact Amy or (425) 392-5516 ext. 227.
