Volunteer Opportunities

We have several opportunities for volunteers in both our Parish Office and with specific ministries! This page will be updated year-round, so check back often to see if something piques your interest. We would greatly appreciate your time and talent assisting with any of these needs!


Faith Formation and Other Office Assistance

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD (CLOW)
Description of Help Needed:
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is looking for a few individuals to help out during the 10:00AM Sunday Mass. CLOW is a way to deliver the readings and homily to children ages 4yrs to 4th grade.

Time Commitment: ~1 hour, once a month

MAILING ASSISTANCE
Description of Help Needed:
It would be wonderful to have a few volunteers come in as-needed to assist with specific mailings to parishioners (i.e., Annual Catholic Appeal, etc.). We would call them a week or more in advance and give them the dates that we are doing the mailing. Then they come when they can on those dates.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours, as needed

GENERAL OFFICE ASSISTANCE
Description of Help Needed:
Assist Office Manager with tasks such as copying and mailing, with potential to also assist with more detailed projects as needed. This volunteer role would be best suited for someone committed to help on a regular basis, to facilitate proper training.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/week

MARRIAGE PREP
Description of Help Needed:
Assemble packets for newly engaged couples planning their wedding at St. Joseph. Would need to come in during office hours to access the copier, all other supplies provided. This is an ‘as needed’ volunteer opportunity.

Time Commitment: ~1 hour, as needed

Ministry Volunteers

ALTAR SERVERS
Description of Help Needed:
Altar servers are needed at all Masses. This ministry is for school-age kids from 5th-12th grade interested in serving on the Altar of the Lord.

DRIVERS FOR MASS
Description of Help Needed:
CCS Volunteer services and our Parish are embarking on a new program to provide transportation to Mass and other Parish events for those Parishioners in need of this transportation. People from St Joseph’s who wish to volunteer to drive for this program will need a vehicle and be available at the various Masses and other events. You do have a choice of times, etc. that your available to drive. There will be a required advanced training and application process.

ISSAQUAH MEALS PROGRAM
Description of Help Needed:
 The Issaquah Meals Program is a free hot meal served to the needy of Issaquah. Meals are served at the Community Hall at 180 East Sunset, in Issaquah.  Our parish volunteers serve three to four meals a month:  the first Monday, the third and fourth Wednesdays, and the fifth Tuesdays of every month. We need people to provide food, to serve food to the diners, and to clean up the Hall when the meal is finished.

Time Commitment: ~1-2 hours, monthly (flexible based on your availability)

USHERS AND GREETERS
Description of Help Needed:
We are in need of a few new volunteers to greet folks coming to Mass, hand out bulletins after Mass, and help with ushering during Communion. This is an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow parishioners and ministers!

Time Commitment: ~15 minutes before and after Mass

BUCKET BRIGADE
Description of Help Needed:
Help make our church shine! Volunteers are needed to help out on Friday mornings, once a month. We clean both the sanctuary and the gathering space so that the church is ready for weekend Masses and activities. This is a great opportunity for school parents needing volunteer hours,

Time Commitment: ~1-2 hours, once a month (Friday’s)

FLOWER MINISTRY
Description of Help Needed:
Purchase and arrange flowers in the parish for the weekend Masses approximately once a month. Flowers will need to be placed Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning. Training provided.

Time Commitment: ~2 hours, once a month

LITURGY

Straightening pews every week either directly after 5:30 PM Mass on Sunday evening, or Monday morning.

Time Commitment: ~1 hour/week
