Tithe

The Tithe, or Collection, at Mass is an integral part of the Sunday liturgy. Not only is it the primary means by which the parish receives financial support from parishioners, but it is also an expression of our gratitude to God for the blessings He has given us. By gifting back a portion of the gifts He has blessed us with, we are providing His Church with the ability to continue to grow.

holy days

Holy Days of Obligation provide us as parishioners with the opportunity to give back to the parish in honor of the special liturgy days recognized by the Catholic Church.

outreach ministries (Works of Mercy)

The following ministries are supported by our "Works of Mercy" collection each month:

  • St. Vincent de Paul Society: Addresses poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need. This is usually provided as short-term assistance to those in crisis in the form of rent assistance, utility bills, or other emergency funding.  The local chapter of St. Vincent de Paul is staffed by several St. Joseph parishioners. (Note: We offer our parishioners the opportunity to donate funds to the local St. Vincent de Paul chapter, in addition to donating as part of the blue envelope donations, which are distributed to several outreach ministries).

  • Issaquah Community Services: Has been serving the greater Issaquah community since 1973. A unique combination of local churches and businesses with concern for the welfare of those needing financial help spurred its establishment.

  • KidVangtage: Helps children by providing essential care, safety, and health goods to those who are living in poverty or experiencing homelessness or family disruption.  Kids, ages birth through 12, get shoes, diapers, formula, blankets, coats and much more from KidVantage, and our partners.  KidVantage also provides for expectant and post-partum mothers, supplying maternity wear, personal care goods and mother-infant support items. KidVantage was founded in 1990 by St. Joseph parishioner Karen Ridlon.

  • The Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank: Committed to providing quality food, clothing, and other items to their customers. They also provide other essential needs for families: clothing, household items, toiletries, and diapers.  Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank was founded in 1971 by St. Joseph parishioner Bob Gray.

  • Everyone4Veterans: E4V mobilizes civilians and professionals to support our greatest national treasure- our veterans and their families. They work in concert with civilians and professionals to provide free comprehensive dental care, goods, & services, to eligible veterans of the U.S Armed Forces and their spouses.

  • The Respect Life Committee: Dedicates time to educate about life issues, to help meet the needs of the most vulnerable and for advocacy on their behalf in the public arena. Done in the spirit of love, as Jesus showed us, to replace the culture of death that surrounds us with a culture of life.

mass intentions

Mass intentions are deeply rooted in Catholic theology. There’s also a temporal aspect to them, in that people offer a small, symbolic amount of money with a request for prayers by the priest for the living or deceased. You are welcome to make a free-will offering in connection with any Mass intention.

St. Joseph parish school annual fund

Our School, as a ministry of the parish, forms the hearts and minds of children through the example of Jesus Christ. The St. Joseph Parish School Annual Fund is an opportunity to help support our school’s programs, teachers, and operational needs that directly affect our students. Your contributions to this fund are essential as we stay committed to keeping tuition as affordable as possible.
